This interview was conducted in the local park, on a cold February afternoon, not far from Slay The Masses H.Q., on a dirty metal bench. The band and I engage in casual banter and then the interview begins...
So, tell us a little about yourselves...
Lee: D.P. has long hair!
D.P.: What do we do?
Lee: Drink, sleep and smoke

How would you describe your music?

Lee: Oh God!! *pauses* It went well!
Juggs: We performed...to high standards
D.P.: We had to do it a day before everyone else and ended up doing it in an I.T. room!!
Lee:Tell you what, if The Evil Pixies (ed - another local band) get in, I'll rip my head off!
What do you think of Andy Fiction, who are also from Chard?
D.P.: Tom, the guitarist ditched me and Lee and left us for musical dead! So we formed another band! We do respect their music, aside from mocking D.P. for political interests
Lee: We had a listen to their e.p. and thought 'fair play', and then listened to Pennywise and Anti-Flag and noticed an UNCANNY resemblance.
*The band then digress and discuss the rip-off*
D.P.: By the way, how much are we being paid?
Any plans for recording in the future?
Lee: Yes
D.P.: We've got a lot of songs...
Lee: We might just go straight for an album

Lee: METALLICA! Led Zeppelin, Capdown ('cos i do a lotta ska in my drumming)
D.P.: A.F.I.. Jas is influenced by R.A.T.M

Band Name: Andy Fiction
From: South Somerset. U.K.
Members: Tom Fiction - Guitar; Nath Fiction - Bass / Vox; Dale Fiction - Drums
Year Formed: 2002
I knew all the members of Andy Fiction even before the band's inception, and I wouldn't have expected them to get as far as they have. With a country crawling with thousnads of kids thirsy for punk, and their talent for songwriting they have a very good chance of making it big. They are well on thier way having played with such acts as Kinesia, Capdown and 4ft Fingers.
So, tell us a little about yourselves...
We have been together for over a year and we play political punk rock. Our music is fast and highly infulenced by hardcore
What do you think of the current punk/hardcore scene in and around Somerset?
Tom: Well there are a few good places for punk music. Yeovil and Bridgwater both have good healthy scenes. Its always good when people will go to gigs to check out bands even if they havnt heard them on TV or read about them in Kerrang.
Nath: The South West in general has a pretty good scene compared to other parts of the UK. There are always gigs goin on and the talent down here is exellent, pleased to be here.
Which bands have influenced you musically?
Dale: Antimaniax and 4ft Fingers are both big influences for my drumming.
Tom: I love loads of diffrent bands from 5 Knuckle to Bob Dylan
Nath: Loads of different bands have influenced me and the way I play like Incubus and Death by Stereo, there are loads of bands that I love and try to create there style like Antimaniax or Strung Out. My influences come from all over the place like watching jazz bassists.
Are you pleased with "A List of Things to Burn"?
Dale: They're good songs but crap recording
Tom: Basically when we recorded the cd we where happy with it because we where still at an early stage but now we nead a something a bit better
Nath: Recording it was a hoot. The sound quaility could be better but at the time I liked the songs. Now its time to move on.
I remeber Dale Fiction saying to me once over a pint or two in the Poppe (local drinking hole) that you guys were trying to attract the attention of Household Name Records? Is this true or was I just too high to remember?
Dale: It would be the record label that we would choose if we could choose any one

Tom: That would be amazing but at the moment a small record label would be nice
Nath: HHN is my my favorite label, to be on it would be stupendous, but I dont think we are there yet.
Who have you most enjoyed playing with?
Dale: 4ft Fingers
Tom: Yeah that was good also a band called Valdez
Nath: Fingers was exellent, loved playing with them but that wasnt my favorite gig, close though.
Where is your favourite venue?
Dale: Rock gardens, we have had some amazing gigs there
Tom: Ditto
Nath: Long live the rock gardens
What are your faveourite alcoholic beverages?
Dale: Lager!
Tom: Ditto
Nath: Jack Daniels or Cider?
Are there any local bands that you think deserve to be heard(apart from yourselves!)?
Tom: Theres a Skacore band from Bristol called Idle Tuesday who are good friends of ours and also play wicked music.
Nath: Shooter.RIP. there is loads of talent around, I can't remember which ones are signed or not! Umm Race, mellow indie band from Taunton, Idle Tuesday, Everyone.
If my memory is correct all three of you have played in different bands or are currently involved in side-projects? Tell us about these...
Tom: No comment
Nath: I'm in two other bands, Re-Volition which is a thrice kinda emo, metalyy rock thingy with my brother, Liam, Dale and Craig Wilkes. Also I'm in a band at college called Mister Minit, we a jazz, funk, reggae, rock band with guys and girls from my course. Nice.
Any last words?
Dale: Um I dunno
Tom: You mess with one bean you mess with the whole burrito
Nath: Mmeeooww. Death for life.(I'm not a goth)
