Downfall
(Bridgwater)

Downfall
Downfall
"Downfall's initial vision was to mix death-metal, hardcore and thrashy influences with slightly more contemporary metal styles. The resultant sound is extremely heavy, but at the same time kinda catchy."

Members: Darryn Baker Bass
Marcus Burns Guitars / Vocals
Jason Trunks Drums
Dave Kedward Keys / Samples / Vocals
Shaun Howes Vocals

From: Bridgwater, Somerset
Other Info: The core of 'Downfall' was formed in Bridgwater in 1993 from the ashes of Bridgwater death-metallers 'Embodiment'.

Marcus Burns formerly of 'Embodiment' on guitar.
Shaun Howes also of 'Embodiment' on vocals.
Jason Trunks ex-'Embodiment' on drums.
And finally, Darryn Baker ex 'Anal Spasm'(who'd stood in on bass for Embodiments bassist Darren Fisher at their disasterous last gig) on bass guitar.
From '93 to '97 Downfall built up a reputation locally for being heavier than a very heavy thing and absolutely unparalleled live.
Downfall's initial vision was to mix death-metal, hardcore and thrashy influences with slightly more contemporary metal styles. The resultant sound is extremely heavy, but at the same time kinda catchy.
In '97 they came second place in a national battle of the bands at wolverhampton.
'97 also saw the release of their first bona-fide demo 'Green Faced Clown'. Recorded at Beehive studios, the tape kicked the shit out of the few rehearsal tapes the band had recorded over the years, but failed to quite match the intensity of their live sound.

Lewinski
Lewinski
Punk band from Taunton

Band Members:
Aaron Wright Guitar / Vox
Jerry Sparks Bass / Vox
Martyn 'Tino' Edwards Drums

From: Taunton, Somerset

Other Info: Try imagining a place that has no meaning, then, try to find a purpose in that place. Pretty dumb really. Think how frustrating that would be, think of all the energy that would build up just screaming to be released Imagine not belonging, wandering, trying to find an escape. That’s how Lewinski began. In 1998 through the split of their respective bands the three members of Lewinski found themselves without a direction, through a chance meeting and some tentative rehearsals things naturally progressed and developed into a sound that was unlike the music of the ‘in-scene’, but had a ‘snotty’ Brit-punk feel, arching an eyebrow and sneering at the things that annoyed us in life.
The reaction was mirrored in the first shows played, it was a two-finger salute to having to be something or somebody instead of being yourself, people connected with an energy and attitude that screamed I don’t care. Packed shows and press attention ranted that Lewinski were an assault on the eardrums, powerful and relentless with a unique and infectious style. Becoming regional champions in the Budweiser battle of the bands set a foundation for public opinion, the shows began coming more frequent with support slots for some really great bands.

The Choice Profile
"We're one of those screamo type bands"

From: Frome, Somerset
Other Info:

Lee met Dan in 95 at a summer playscheme at Whitstone School Somerset, and then headed off to year 7 camp in 97 and, lee's first instrument was drums and played for once under for a year, but it started to cause problems as lees personality clashes with drum kits, The band mutually decided that lee shouldnt be in this band, but he found that he wanted to write songs and started playing guitar and he was in heaven. We met Tim through matt heard he drummed for former band Alex the Kid and Lee asked him to be our drummer at a blink 182 concertand he was like yeh, Lee and Dan knew Terry McCann, through college in 02. Lee heard his scream on a demo and loved it so he was always priority vocalist from the start, we got to Know him and realised he was great fun, so it started from there, we are currently looking to expand our sound with another guitarist as we have to keep on borrowing guitarists. Matt Guttridge From the band Milhouse had been An amazing help and influenced Lees song writing, all these guys are part of a great circle of freinds, we think that to keep a freindship remains the core part of all of this and.
The formulation started as lee started writing songs and fussy as he would write 10 but only keep the best 2, Dan would come over and we would sort out the bass lines. We are The Choice profile Thanks for being interested, Hope to see you at our next show.

Exit Wound
(Yeovil, Street, Frome & Glastonbury)

Exit Wound
Exit Wound
"The sound aimed for was a mix of punk & metal with a little bit of hardcore thrown in for good measure."

From: Yeovil, Somerset
Other Info:

Exit Wound formed in Yeovil, October 1998. Ben, Dan and Guy had all previously played in a band called 'Blindgut' who after splitting up went on to form Exit Wound.
The Original line up (pictured right) were made up of Dan on Vocals, Guy on Drums Andy on Bass and Ben on Guitar. After forming the band rehearsed and wrote material for a few months in a local village youth centre much to the displeasure of local residents. The sound aimed for was a mix of punk & metal with a little bit of hardcore thrown in for good measure.
On Thursday 4th March 1999, Exit Wound played their first show at The Kings Arms in Yeovil. It was a moderate success with friends, family and all manner of miscreants and unfortunate regulars in attendance. The response was enough to make sure the band continued to play and write together, rather than disappear into the void. The band then went on to record and release a five track EP in July of 1999 entitled 'Social Disgust' which sold out in a matter of weeks.
Over the course of the next two and a half years the band played many shows in and around the Yeovil area supporting local and big name UK acts such as Raging Speedhorn, Knuckledust, Unite, Freebase, Landmine Spring and Medulla Nocte making both friends and contacts as they went.
